About IB TITC Tutoring
IB TITC, in full Turkey in the 20th Century, is a national subject taken by every IB Diploma student studying at a school in Turkey. It brings history, geography and sociology together under one programme and satisfies the Turkish national curriculum's compulsory subject requirement inside the IB framework.
The syllabus is built from six topics: Turkey at the start of the 20th century; the founding years of the Republic (1923-1945); global change between the two world wars and its effects on Turkey (1918-1939); the Second World War and Turkey under pressure; reconstruction, democracy and regional developments (1945-1985); and the effects of globalisation and dialogue with Europe (1985-2000).
Assessment has three components. Paper 1 (30%, 1 hour 30 minutes) covers the first three topics with three compulsory structured questions based on documents, statistics and graphs. Paper 2 (30%, 1 hour 30 minutes) covers the last three topics, with the candidate answering two extended-response questions on a topic of their choice. Questions on both papers draw on all three disciplines at once.
The Internal Assessment is worth 40% of the grade, the heaviest single component. The student writes a 2000-word research paper combining at least two disciplines from any area of the syllabus; the work takes roughly 20 hours and the teacher gives feedback on the first draft only.
In one-to-one lessons the emphasis follows the student's weakest discipline: some struggle with document interpretation, some with applying geographical concepts and case studies, and some with framing an IA research question that genuinely combines two disciplines rather than treating them separately.
IB assessment experience
Lessons are, wherever possible, planned with teachers who have relevant subject experience and a strong command of the IB assessment criteria. For some subjects we can offer lessons with teachers who have IB Examiner experience; matching is done based on subject, level and teacher availability.

About grade boundaries: According to the grade boundary documents the International Baccalaureate Organization publishes for each exam session, the total percentage needed for a 7 varies by subject, level and session in a band of roughly 55–85%. Your school's IB coordinator can access the relevant May/November Grade descriptors and boundaries document. The two disciplines have to meet inside the question
The mistake we see most often is a history essay with a geography paragraph added afterwards. The research question itself has to require both - if it can be answered with history alone, it is not interdisciplinary. We run that test together before the question goes for approval.
Budgeting the 2,000 words
Two disciplines in 2,000 words is a tight space. When the background section runs long, there is nothing left for the analysis, and the analysis is what carries the marks. We work out how many words each section gets before you start writing.
Limiting the question by place and period
Turkey as a whole across twenty years will not fit into a defensible essay of this length. Narrowing to one region and a short period is what makes both the sources findable and the conclusion writable.
Evaluating the source itself
Using a source is not enough; you have to write who produced it, when, for what purpose, and how that limits your use of it. This evaluation is the part most often missing with Turkish-language sources, so we spend session time on it.

IB rules let the school teacher give feedback on a single draft. We look at the framing before that draft and at the revisions after it - without writing the essay for you, and inside the academic honesty rules.

How One-to-One Lessons Work
The general structure of IB TITC Tutoring sessions
We measure which of the three disciplines is weak
A low TITC grade usually comes from one discipline rather than the subject as a whole. A student who cannot tie a geographical concept to a case study needs a different programme from one who cannot build an argument from a document, and the first session exists to tell those apart.
Past papers are scarce, so we write the questions
Published past papers and mark schemes are far harder to come by for this subject than for other IB courses. We write exam-format questions from the syllabus topics and work through them, rather than waiting for material that is not coming.
Reading a document is not the same as arguing from one
Paper 1 gives marks for using a document as evidence for your own argument, not for restating what it says. We work that difference on a real document in every session.
