About IB Geography SL Tutoring
Our IB Geography SL tutoring programme examines the core topics of physical and human geography from a global perspective. We develop spatial analysis and data interpretation skills.
The course covers Core topics and Optional themes. Population, climate and resource consumption are covered in detail.

About grade boundaries: According to the grade boundary documents the International Baccalaureate Organization publishes for each exam session, the total percentage needed for a 7 varies by subject, level and session in a band of roughly 55–85%. Your school's IB coordinator can access the relevant May/November Grade descriptors and boundaries document. In our one-to-one lessons we review the student's realistic grade range together using past-session boundaries and mock results.

Where do one-to-one lessons provide support on the Internal Assessment and written tasks?
You get one day in the field
The report rests on primary data you collect yourself, and you collect it once. If the method is weak there is no fixing it after the trip - the report is only ever as good as the data allows. So the sessions before the trip go entirely on what you will measure and how you will record it.
A question the syllabus can recognise
A fieldwork question that is interesting but attaches to no concept you have studied cannot be marked. As we write the question we also write which concept from which topic it tests; without that link the report stays a good piece of observation.
A question that belongs to a place
The report happens somewhere specific. The name of the place, its scale and why it was chosen all have to appear in the question. If you could ask the same question anywhere else, the question is not geographical yet.
Justifying the sampling
How many measurements, at which points, and why those points. Without saying whether the points were random or systematic and how far they represent the area, the analysis section rests on nothing. We build that justification before the trip, not after.
The word limit and draft rounds
Most students inflate the methodology and leave no room for evaluation. We set the word budget section by section at the start. The trip date and submission calendar belong to your school; we read separately at the method stage, on the raw data and on the full report.

The session before the trip is worth five sessions after it
The defining constraint of this subject is that you collect the data once. There is no rescuing a variable that was measured wrongly, and the report can only be as good as that data allows. So we plan the support around the trip date and front-load the preparation.
Case studies with a name, a year and a figure
An answer that opens with 'in a developing country' scores low. Without a place name, a date and a number, no evaluation is considered to have happened. We draw up three or four named examples per theme and practise where each belongs in the answer.
We teach the themes your school chose
Optional themes are the school's choice, so we do not offer a ready-made set. In the first session we find out which two you are taking and build the programme around them; time spent on a theme your school does not teach is time lost.
A written progress report every two weeks
We share which themes were covered, which section the fieldwork report has reached and what comes next, in writing.
