About IB Internal Assessment Tutoring

Our IB Internal Assessment tutoring programme covers the Internal Assessment (IA) projects across all subjects of the IB Diploma Programme. We develop independent research and academic report writing skills. Our experienced IB teachers provide guidance suited to each subject's IA requirements.

For the science IAs (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, ESS), we systematically teach experiment design, independent and dependent variables, control variables, data collection, uncertainty calculations, graphing and error analysis. Each step is structured according to the IB assessment criteria.

The Mathematics IA is a mathematical exploration and modelling project. We provide support in choosing a research topic, selecting a mathematical method, calculations and analysis, personal engagement and reflection. Our teachers share high-scoring sample IAs.

The Economics IA portfolio consists of three commentaries. We teach the selection of a suitable news article, linking to economic theory, the use of graphs and diagrams, and writing analysis and evaluation. Guidance is provided for one article each from microeconomics, macroeconomics and international/development topics.

The Business Management IA is a research project on a real business. We provide support in business selection, research question development, primary and secondary data collection, applying analysis tools (SWOT, financial ratios, etc.) and report writing.

For the language subject IAs (English, Turkish), Individual Oral (IO) preparation is critically important. We teach extract/image selection, identifying the global issue, structuring the presentation and question-and-answer strategies. Practice presentations are carried out and feedback given.

Our service is fully personalised to the student's subjects and IA requirements. IAs make up a significant portion of the total IB grade (20-25%). Our programme builds the skills needed to achieve high scores across all IAs.

IB assessment experience

Lessons are, wherever possible, planned with teachers who have relevant subject experience and a strong command of the IB assessment criteria. For some subjects we can offer lessons with teachers who have IB Examiner experience; matching is done based on subject, level and teacher availability.

About grade boundaries: IB grade boundary ranges vary noticeably by subject, level and exam session. In some subjects the proportion needed for a 7 can range between 55–85%, so the current May/November session boundary documents should be checked separately. In our one-to-one lessons we review the student's realistic grade range together using past-session boundaries and mock results.

Process & Support

Where exactly do one-to-one lessons provide step-by-step support?

1

Plan and draft

A structure template for the topic / argument, plan and first draft is built together.

2

Revision against the rubric

Each section is read against the IB assessment criteria, with feedback and revision rounds planned.

3

Academic language and citation

Thesis, evidence integration, academic tone and citation style (MLA / APA / Chicago) are chosen together.

4

Final check and submission

Final read-through, format check and a submission timeline aligned with school deadlines are planned together.

Comparing Preparation Paths

The differences between self-study, group classes and one-to-one support for IB Internal Assessment Tutoring

Self-study

Avantajlar

  • Flexible schedule, no extra cost
  • Self-paced progress

Limitations

  • No feedback on IA / oral / written tasks
  • Hard to spot knowledge gaps
  • Difficult to interpret the IB rubric alone

Best for?

Students with strong subject command and low need for feedback.

School / group course

Avantajlar

  • Regular schedule, peer interaction
  • Shared course materials

Limitations

  • Not planned around personal pace and target grade
  • Limited one-to-one IA / oral / written-task feedback
  • Question-by-question problem solving stays average

Best for?

Students who want a general command of the core syllabus.

One-to-one online tutoring

Avantajlar

  • A personal plan based on target grade and current level
  • One-to-one feedback on IA / oral / written tasks / past papers
  • Flexible hours, recorded lesson replays

Limitations

  • Higher cost than self-study

Best for?

Students with a clear target grade who want personalised feedback.

How One-to-One Lessons Work

The general structure of IB Internal Assessment Tutoring sessions

Starts with diagnosis

In the first session a diagnostic past paper / oral assessment clearly maps the current level and knowledge gaps.

A plan based on the target grade

A weekly lesson and study plan is made together, factoring in the student's target grade, exam date and school calendar.

Concept + problem solving

Each session has two blocks: concept consolidation and past-paper-focused problem solving.

Feedback against the IB rubric

IA, written tasks, orals and exam answers are read line by line against the IB assessment criteria, with concrete revisions suggested.

Weekly progress

A short progress summary is shared at the end of each week; the plan is revised as needed.

Recorded lesson replays

Lesson recordings can be shared on request, so students can revisit a topic during revision.
