IB Internal Assessment Tutoring
One-to-one online preparation for the Internal Assessment programme
IB Internal Assessment support starts with how the research question is framed, because that is where most of the marks are lost. Our 60-minute sessions work on topic choice, method, data analysis and the structure of the report. We do not write it for the student - under academic honesty rules the work stays entirely their own.
Quick Answer
IA support is given in 60-minute sessions, and four to six usually cover a single subject's IA; if you have several running at once, the same package can be split across them. We do not write the report for the student - under academic honesty rules the work stays entirely their own.

About IB Internal Assessment Tutoring
Our IB Internal Assessment tutoring programme covers the Internal Assessment (IA) projects across all subjects of the IB Diploma Programme. We develop independent research and academic report writing skills. Our experienced IB teachers provide guidance suited to each subject's IA requirements.
For the science IAs (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, ESS), we systematically teach experiment design, independent and dependent variables, control variables, data collection, uncertainty calculations, graphing and error analysis. Each step is structured according to the IB assessment criteria.
The Mathematics IA is a mathematical exploration and modelling project. We provide support in choosing a research topic, selecting a mathematical method, calculations and analysis, personal engagement and reflection. Our teachers share high-scoring sample IAs.
The Economics IA portfolio consists of three commentaries. We teach the selection of a suitable news article, linking to economic theory, the use of graphs and diagrams, and writing analysis and evaluation. Guidance is provided for one article each from microeconomics, macroeconomics and international/development topics.
The Business Management IA is a research project on a real business. We provide support in business selection, research question development, primary and secondary data collection, applying analysis tools (SWOT, financial ratios, etc.) and report writing.
For the language subject IAs (English, Turkish), Individual Oral (IO) preparation is critically important. We teach extract/image selection, identifying the global issue, structuring the presentation and question-and-answer strategies. Practice presentations are carried out and feedback given.
Our service is fully individual to the student's subjects and IA requirements. IAs make up a significant portion of the total IB grade (20-25%). Our programme builds the skills needed to achieve high scores across all IAs.
IB assessment experience
Lessons are, wherever possible, planned with teachers who have relevant subject experience and a strong command of the IB assessment criteria. For some subjects we can offer lessons with teachers who have IB Examiner experience; matching is done based on subject, level and teacher availability.

About grade boundaries: According to the grade boundary documents the International Baccalaureate Organization publishes for each exam session, the total percentage needed for a 7 varies by subject, level and session in a band of roughly 55–85%. Your school's IB coordinator can access the relevant May/November Grade descriptors and boundaries document. In our one-to-one lessons we review the student's realistic grade range together using past-session boundaries and mock results.
Process & Support
At which stages of the process do one-to-one lessons help?
Most marks are lost on the research question
Whatever the subject, the commonest mistake is starting from a question too broad to answer. A broad question scatters the data, thins the analysis and leaves the conclusion with nothing to stand on. The first sessions are about narrowing it, not about the text.
Every subject speaks a different criteria language
The sciences foreground uncertainty and controlled variables, the social sciences source evaluation, mathematics notation and personal engagement. Applying one structure to every subject costs marks. We read your subject's criteria together and build the text from them.
Data or sources you can actually reach
Work resting on a source you cannot get, a variable you cannot measure or an experiment that cannot be run stays stuck until the deadline. We look at what you have in hand before the method is chosen.
Feedback at the intermediate stages
Schools can usually give formal feedback on one complete draft. We read three times - question, method, full text. A problem caught mid-way costs far less to fix than one caught a week before submission.
The text is the student's own work
In 60-minute sessions we work on structure, method and analysis; the sentences are yours. IB academic honesty does not allow anyone else to write it, and your supervisor will ask you about the decisions behind it.

Study Plan Framework
A typical 4-phase structure for IB Internal Assessment Tutoring in one-to-one lessons; adapted to the student's exam date.
Topic and question
the first 1-2 sessions
- Reading your subject's IA criteria together
- Filtering candidate topics by reachable data and sources
- Pulling the question to an answerable width
Method
2-3 sessions
- Writing the data collection or source plan
- Choosing the analysis method in advance
- Noting the limitations of the method
Data and analysis
3-4 weeks, set by your school's calendar
- Organising and presenting the raw data
- Writing the analysis in the form the criteria ask for
- Handling results you did not expect
Draft rounds
3-4 weeks
- Writing and reading section by section
- Marking what is missing against the criteria
- Writing the evaluation as its own round
Final revision
1-2 sessions before submission
- Cutting to the word limit
- Checking bibliography and formatting
- Preparing for the supervisor meeting
This framework is a sample plan; it is customised for each student based on exam date, target grade and current level.
How One-to-One Lessons Work
The general structure of IB Internal Assessment Tutoring sessions
No writing until the question narrows
Most of the time lost on an IA goes into data collected under a broad question and then never used. Students want to start immediately; we hold the order anyway, because a narrowed question shortens every stage that follows.
We read the criteria from your subject
General IA advice does not help, because the mark scheme changes from subject to subject. In the first session we open your subject's criteria and see which section carries how many marks; the structure of the text follows from that.
Sessions are 60 minutes and the text is yours
The work here is reading and arguing over drafts, so 60-minute sessions are enough. You write in the intervening week and we read. We do not write it for you.
A written progress report every two weeks
We share which section was written, which draft was read and what comes next, in writing.
Where Students Struggle
Our experienced IB teachers guide you through overcoming these challenges.
Our Teaching Approach
IB-Focused Methodology
Work with teachers who know the IB assessment criteria inside out.
Where We Start
The first lesson sets the level, and the topic order follows from it.
The IA and the Exam
From the research question to the report, from past papers to mark schemes.
Past-Paper Focused
Real exam questions and mark scheme analysis.
Share before your first lesson
The information below helps the lesson plan focus on the student's real needs from the very first minutes.
- Target IB grade (e.g. 6 or 7) and exam date
- Current level: latest mock grade, predicted grade or weak topics
- School curriculum: the textbook used, IA / EE topic, deadline dates
- Study schedule: lessons per week, available days and time slots
